ABOUT MARIA VIGAR

Maria Vigar was born in Nicosia and raised in London, where she has lived most of her life.

She trained for the theatre at Rose Bruford College, King’s College London and RADA, and has presented her plays on stage in the UK, Dublin, and on BBC Radio 4.

She began writing and performing professionally in 1986 when she graduated from Rose Bruford College.

In 1989 she joined BBC Radio Drama as a Trainee Producer and was commissioned to dramatise The Nets by Sheelagh Kanelli, which she also cast and directed, and then, to write a 90-minute original play, The Silkworm, which was directed by Jeremy Mortimer.

Maria has also performed her work to raise funds and awareness for Amnesty International UK and The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture.
